The first prize will be the offer of a booking at the 2020 festival with a second prize of a pair of tickets to the 2020 festival.

The judges will be taken from the 2019 performers, folk club organisers and the festival committee and judging will be based on a number of factors including but not limited to:

* Entertainment value.
* Stage presence.
* Suitability of material.
* Musical (or other appropriate) skill.
* How well the act will fit in at Upton.

The organisers reserve the right to refuse entry to unsuitable acts or because of the constraints of the competition venue.
They also reserve the right not to select an outright winner if the standard is not satisfactory.

The competition will be held at 5.30pm in the Star upper room and entries may only be made before the event at the festival from 5 pm on Saturday at the Star upper room. Advance registration will not be possible. At the organisers’ discretion, more than one entry per performer may be allowed if there is time.
